As I mention in the article, when you are not vulnerable you should NOT "talk yourself out of opening or preempting". Voids are good things. Some people like to pass inititally and then try to show both minors later, in case partner has diamonds. Don't do that
Don't talk yourself out of preempting, especially when you are not vulnerable and the opponents are vulnerable (called favourable vulnerability).
For those that preempted immediately, there were big penalty doubles lurking, 800 and 1100. That is jsut one benefit of preempting, there are multiple - when in doubt, just do it.
